FogBugz seems to be mailing itself for my account at hearablog.fogbugz.com. If you see issue 736 it's an automatic response to 735 which was generated from the same email address fogbugz checks out.

One of the mails FogBugz sent to itself looked like this:

I can't be 100% certain to which mail it was replying.

FogBugz tries to detect when you have set up mail loops, but email aliases prevent this from working 100% of the time. – Michael Pryor Dec 21 2009 at 23:18

There are multiple safeguards in place to make sure this doesn't happen. What is the notification email address of the user who's getting the email by default in the first place?

It looks like the From: and the To: are the same address and FogBugz is checking that mailbox, so what happens is the message comes in, FB receives it and writes an autoreply back to info@hearablog.com. Which goes right back into the mailbox and FogBugz does the same thing again. This will happen 3 times (and then the auto checks will stop the loop) per hour.

Isn't FogBugz supposed to not email itself? – J. Pablo Fernández Dec 18 2009 at 22:36
