I had the Perforce Defect Tracking Gateway running on a machine in my office up until a few weeks ago when the HD died. I'm trying to set it up again, but I can't get it to connect to FogBugz. I don't remember how it was configured and I can't get it to work now. On the Defect Tracking Sources tab, in the Server connection details section of the source configuration dialog, I have entered the following as the server:

http://ourserver/fogbugz

I click the test connection button and get this error message:

Unable to connect to server:
Connect to server failed; check $P4PORT.
TCP connect to http://ourserver/fogbugz failed.
//ourserver/fogbugz: service unknown.

Why can't it connect to FogBugz? Is here another URL I have to enter in order for it to connect to FB?

That should be correct. I've never seen an error like that before -- it's definitely not one thrown by the FogBugz DTG plugin. Did you install the DTG plugin using setup downloaded from FogBugz? It should try to automatically fill in the URL for you.

This isn't a problem with the FogBugz DTG plugin, it's a problem with the P4DTG proper from Perforce. Since I had it working, I figured I shouldn't have to touch the plugin configuration. I just need to get the P4DTG configured and running again, but I'm having this connection problem. – Greg Saven Sep 21 2009 at 22:21
Sorry, the terminology is confusing. There is both a plugin for FogBugz (the "Perforce DTG Integration" plugin), and a plugin for the DTG (the "FogBugz DTG Plugin"). Try reinstalling the latter via FogBugz under Admin > Source Control. If that doesn't work call us (fogcreek.com/contact.html) and set up a time for a technical support call so we can use Copilot to try to figure out what's going on. – David Fullerton Sep 21 2009 at 23:27

That sure looks like you've entered your Fogbugz server address where you should have entered your Perforce server address.

The error message is very misleading. I don't know why it was telling me to check the $P4PORT environment variable when I was trying to connect to FogBugz. I got it working after David posted a comment on his answer reminding me I need to install two plugins. The address it was looking for was ourserver/fogbugz/?ixRepository=4 – Greg Saven Sep 25 2009 at 18:09
