Would be nice to have the ability to force a milestone other than the default milestone on resolving a case.

We tend to not reject user input, which is largely responsible for the smooth feel of using FogBugz. This often means you have to work around users not doing what you want them to do (like selecting a milestone on resolution). The best way to get around this is to create a filter: Resolved cases in Milestone Undecided. You can then assign the cases back to the user with a snarky note. This works much better, overall, than rejecting user input.

If you want to automate this validation process, we can help.

Thanks for the feedback Rich. We're looking for something a bit more automated. I think we may go the route of writing a FogBugz plugin to accomplish this (assuming we can tap into the right hooks). If we do, I would think we could upload it to the FogBugz community. – Jacob May 11 2011 at 18:14
Jacob, if you ever do that, please let me know. We just got bit by this as well. It hurt. – Steve Feb 15 2012 at 19:45
We too are looking to do this to stop cases being resolved in the "Undecided" milestone. Did you get anywhere with this? – Jessica Gough Sep 19 at 1:28
