We would like an option to create filters that show all cases under a certain parent case.

At least for me, parent:1234 shows all direct children of case 1234. Just add that as a Search for criterion.

	Thanks, this works. However, it is the hardcore way of doing it and I did not manage to combine this with filter created through the GUI (tried to append &searchFor=parent%3A4 to the browser address) – Tom May 4 2011 at 19:08

If you mean not just immediate children but children's children as well, you can add a Search For criteria, outline:1234
