We currently use Virtual Users as "up for grabs" users and use a distribution mail list to send the notification of a new case being opened to the appropriate team members...

One concern/annoyance that I've heard from multiple people using FogBugz is that notifications assigned to a Virtual User still say:

"A new case was assigned to you in FogBugz"

This makes me believe that a case was directly assigned to me and not to a virtual user. I am typically more interested in cases assigned directly to me and will review cases assigned to a virtual user less frequently.

Is there a way to change the notification message to state:

"A new case was assigned to virtual user in FogBugz"

so there is no confusion that this case was not assigned to one specific person but instead is up for grabs?

This has been implemented as of FogBugz 8.8.

Thanks for the feature request! This is a really good idea. I've run into this before. With the advent of Autosubscribe, this is more important. We'll file this as an official request when it reaches our top 100 feature requests by votes. To get it there, vote up this question!

Great that this has been implemented, but I can't find any documentation about how to use it. Link? – Boofus McGoofus May 3 2012 at 18:26
I will second the comment - if it is implemented, I can't find anywhere to enable/disable/configure this functionality, and it is not on by default (we are running 8.8.46.0). A link or some brief documentation would be very useful for anything tagged "completed-feature-request". – Jeff Smith Jan 3 at 11:58

Until such a change gets made, I'd recommend using your mail client's filtering capabilities to separate mail to the virtual address into a different folder.

We're still trialling FB, but this "feature" almost derailed it for us. What I ended up doing was...

1) Turn off email notification for the virtual user

2) Create a PHP script on our website to send a "This case is up for grabs..." email to all our users.

3) Use the URLTrigger plugin to call the script whenever a case is assigned to our Unassigned virtual user.

But it would be awesome not to have to use that workaround.

Another idea for this feature would be to have the option to set e-mails for people on the list to a daily digest, maybe in the workflow. That is the annoyance that I here from my team, if we make an edit to a case everyone gets the e-mail. Ideally, there would be a toggle in the workflow for instant or daily notification.
