I like the kanban plugin, but I don't like having to manually specify which column a case is in. We're already updating the fogbugz cases, so why must I also drag the cases around on the board? This should be automated.

The most flexible way I can think of is to allow the columns to be bound to fogbugz filters. Then I could create a few filters, setup some columns, map the filters to the columns, and watch the cases move across the board as they are updated.

Sorry, no further integration between kanban and FogBugz is currently planned.

This is disappointing. I really like your Kanban board, I would just like to see a little more integration.

While the "filters" suggestion above is a great idea and super flexible, even just having columns that represent the Status (Active, Resolved, etc) of a case would be nice.

The plugin is from a third-party author. While he's still happy to do bug fixes, he's too busy with other projects to add new features. However, much of the Kanban board is accessible through the XML API in FogBugz. When I need to adjust something based on a known value (that is, I'm not making a judgement call), I have a script that does the update for me. Check out fogbugz.stackexchange.com/fogbugz-xml-api and developers.kilnhg.com for a handy Python wrapper for the API. – Bradford Jul 25 2011 at 14:31

You can adjust which column a case is in directly from the edit case page, it normally appears as a drop down on the left hand column. Still a manual process but at least its there on the page. Having rules etc. set up to do it automatically is not an ideal set up to me, seeing the board and what is happening on it is important so it is good to have to interact with it. Helps you see the whole picture and not just the cases just you might be working (assuming you are using it as part of a team?)

Cheers

I agree - kanban column is not necessarily directly linked to case status. – Dave Hodder Mar 23 2012 at 12:27
