I'm using the XML API to develop an app. I could provide a better user experience if I knew from the API what the current filter is being sorted by. I don't need all the sort fields, just the top-level one. It doesn't appear that you can do this now with the API, so I thought I'd mention it as a feature request for a future version of the API.
