With the FogBugz 8.3 release, we've added support for a mobile view of FogBugz. Our first release lets you view and edit your core cases, but we would like to add further mobile functionality in future updates. What features would you like to see added the most?

Add a new case. Currently I use CaseControl on my iPhone to do that.

this seems to be implemented? Although the default Assignee breaks the WorkFlow's default and instead default-assigns it to the Area Owner. (So 'New Case' on full site default's differ from 'New Case' of mobile site) – Quang Jun 16 2011 at 17:47
It has been implemented since I asked for it. Yay! – CADbloke Jun 29 2011 at 20:30

I'd like to be able to reply to inbound email, expand snippets - basically, the whole reply sequence.

As above, I'd also like to be able to go to the full site and stay there: at present, the mobile site is too limited, and my workflow is worse than before due to additional click-throughs.

  • being able to reply to a case!
  • use the "Show Quoted Text" functionality as on the web version - far too much scrolling at the moment
  • but keep it simple

No.1 would be "Working On".

No.2 would be additional info on the case, e.g. estimate, time remaining, etc.
Also nice (probably no.4 or 5) would be some form of limited list view, so I could know what I'm supposed to work on next.

+1 count me too for "Working On". (placing the vote this way because I don't see any voting triangles in firefox nor in chrome). – Martin Vobr Feb 14 2011 at 20:40

  • The ability to browse based on the same hierarchies as the "home page" (by project, priority, area, assigned-to, etc.)
  • BugMonkey support of some kind.
  • Custom fields support. I was very excited about per-project custom fields in this release, and about mobile site. Unfortunately, they're kind of mutually exclusive in terms of usability.
  • Oh, yeah. And SEARCH.

It'd be nice if it would remember the filter I had the last time I was viewing cases. Right now, it automatically goes directly to "My Cases" which is not what I view by default.

I also agree that if we click to go to full site, it should remember that the next time I go there (or at least have an intermediate page when I click that link that asks if I want to make that my default). There should also be a link on the full site to get back to it.

All that said, it is definitely easier and quicker to read through a case. Thanks!

  1. Search. Should have quick and easy access to search. Even better would be abbreviations for axes like a: for assigned to and p: for project:.

  2. Shorter default list. By default when I go to the mobile site it gives me a huge case list. The default page should be a short case list. Even having the default page be no case list and just a menu for My Starred, My Recently Edited, Recently Assigned to Me filters and such would be fine.

  3. Default limits. Case lists should have smaller default limits, probably with a "more" link to show more cases as is standard on a mobile app. I'm not sure what the default is now but it gave me a huge scrolling list.

+1 for search... – Quang Jun 16 2011 at 17:48

'Previous case' and 'Next case' buttons (<- ->) in the case view, to switch to the previous/next case in my filter.

Status would be nice (for project management purposes): resolved vs active.

As it is now you have done us a disservice with the mobile version coming up as default now. Our support people use iPads on the road and have to click "Full Site" every time in order to do their jobs. Reply to email is the big thing that is missing, but it's also too hard to use a list of many cases without a table format.

Is there a way to block the mobile version from coming up?

There might be a way (in the database?) to disable the internal Mobile plugin...? – Michel de Ruiter Feb 10 2011 at 10:12
@jade can you give us some more details? What do you mean by 'every time'? They should just have to click Full Site once and then they can interact with the full site. Or is it that one click that you don't like? – Michael Pryor Feb 14 2011 at 20:48
I was hearing reports of it not keeping the full site choice across sessions, and I had observed that myself. However now it seems to keeping the choice so that is good until the mobile version is capable enough for us. We use FogBugz a lot from phones and iPads so ultimately a good mobile UI is great for us. To me the big things missing are the reply email and a better way to browse lists of cases. I need to quickly glance over lists where I can see multiple at once the current mobile lists gives too much vertical space to each case and doesn't show things like status and assigned to. – Jade Ohlhauser Feb 18 2011 at 21:52

  • ability to expand / contract events within a bug. Some of my BugzScout reports are very long.
  • Show "occurrences" along with status / priority. 200 vs 2 occurrences makes a big difference on if I stop eating and run for a computer vs. finish the meal and deal with it tomorrow.

Really would like to be able to reply to inbound emails. Seems like a huge hole. Used to be able to do it from my phone with the full web site, now not sure how to even get that to load.

I need a different way to select a filter (iPhone). My list is long and I can't get it to scroll once it drops down so I am limited to the first 9 filters.

I love the mobile app! I take my ipad in the conference room and we go over the cases from there.

The one feature/UI element I could use is to have the status displayed somewhere in the headline. With all the cases in the queue it would be nice to just talk about the 'Active' ones for example.

I know I can just make a filter of actives only, but it is nice to see all the open cases.

Non-JavaScript "working on" option. We use FogBugz to keep track of billable time on the road. Even with 4G on Android, it's hit-or-miss using the "working on" feature through the current interface.

Pagination

Ability to view not only the first 50 items, but the rest of the cases as well.
