We prefer to use the on-demand instead of self-hosting, but we really need outgoing email to funnel through our own mailbox. Fogbugz On Demand uses it's own SMTP server.

I'd like to request at least one of the following features for the on demand version to help solve this:

  • A way to use our own SMTP box for all outgoing mail

  • An automatic CC or BCC for all outgoing mail

  • A copy of all outgoing mail to sent to a 'sent items' folder (or any specified folder) via IMAP

Out of curiosity, why do you want to use your own SMTP server? From your suggestions, it sounds like you're looking to keep an archive of all sent email. FogBugz keeps a record of all direct correspondence from your users and customers (e.g. incoming mail, replies, forwards, etc.) through case events, but doesn't log notification emails (e.g. "Case X assigned to you"). Do you require an archive of the notification emails as well? – db Jan 28 2011 at 2:17
The two main reasons are we want to see what exactly FB sends to clients, and more importantly, we have a CRM system that captures all in and out email and assigns the messages to customers, similar to how FB does. I think any of the three methods above would cover this. – Chris W Jan 28 2011 at 20:01

We've entered this as a feature request. Vote up the question to get it implemented.

I would really like to see this implemented, specially the external SMTP server (GMail in my case).

I use the email archive product that they have and its nice to see the full thread for a case on the GMail web interface.
