I need to restrict a new Group made up of two new users to just one Project and not all the other Projects that have been created so far. How can this be done? Thanks in advance.

Assuming you are using FogBugz 8, first, create a group using the Admin -> Group page and add the the new users to the new group. Now add the group to the project: from the list of projects on the Admin -> Project page, click on the project name or its "Edit" icon, click on the "Edit Permissions" link on the project's home page, and add the group with the "Add a User or Group" link.

I have already done all of what you suggested, but I am looking for a way to block these new users, who are the only members of this new group, from seeing all the other projects and cases in our FogBugz account. Is there a way to do this? – Roger Spurzem Jan 27 2011 at 19:45
If they can see cases for other projects, then they must be members of a group with permission to view those projects, or have explicit permission to view the projects. Have you checked to see if they are in any other groups? – James McLeod Jan 27 2011 at 20:22

It appears that whenever you add new users they automatically are designated as normal users and given access to all projects. None of our users are members of any group except for the new users in the new group. As the FB documentation says, the permissions functionality is very basic, which makes it easy to use, but limits what you can do. There seems to be no way to restrict users to only certain projects. – Roger Spurzem Jan 27 2011 at 21:47

This is more a response to your comments on James' answer than a separate answer, but hopefully it might help.

You mention:

It appears that whenever you add new users they automatically are designated as normal users and given access to all projects.

Which is true, but only for projects that haven't had the "All Normal Users" group removed. So yes, new users are automatically added to the "All Normal Users" group, but you can prevent this group from having access to any specific project by removing that group for the project's permissions table.

Just click on the "delete" icon next to the "All Normal Users" group for each project that requires more specific access control:

Remove normal users group

Thanks for the response. This did the trick although it took quite a bit of work because I had to put all of the old users into a new group, assign that group to about 75 projects and delete the All Normal Users from these same 75 at the same time. Thanks. – Roger Spurzem Jan 28 2011 at 20:01
