I recently read this post on the StackOverflow blog - regarding Open Source project advertised in spare ad cycles.

About a month ago I started an Open Source project to wrap the FogBugz XML API with a C++ wrapper - similar to the .NET one available.

So, hoping to get some developers and raise awareness of the project I created a response to the question here.

As you can see, I am not a designer or artist and it is clear that this ad would not look good on the SO site. Some people appear to be willing to do some artwork for the project. In hopes of that and in preparation for possibly great things I was hoping to get a nod of approval to use some parts of the FogBugz design/logo/them/kiwi. I did not find a trademark registration for the name and don't see anything regarding the kiwi on your site, but I would like to know how you feel about it and if you have any comments, suggestions or perhaps even your own design.

I hope that FogCreek sees this wrapper as a good thing - we really like the product and hope that this open source project helps other users.

In my experience, when I asked for permission to use Kiwi logo to represent FogBugz repository in Eclipse, Michael promptly replied with "Permission is granted" and he even offered hi-res version of the image! – Peter Štibraný♦ Jan 24 2011 at 15:54

You have our permission to use our logo to advertise your open source project.

It's not much, but here's something one of our devs came up with as a potential starting point:

And here's the layered source file if you want to play around with it (made using Paint.NET). The font is Yanone Kaffeesatz.

Thank you. Is there any particular art work that you would appreciate/prefer to see? I realize this is sort of asking someone else to do my work for me, but if there is a ready-made image that just drops in that would be great. – Tim Jan 24 2011 at 15:57

Wow, thanks guys. I'll try to get paint.net working - failed install twice on my win7 machine though. I'd use it as is if it were the 220x220.

In any even I really appreciate the time you spent on it. Looks great!

Can I use the kiwi and/or FogBugz name in an ad for an Open Source project on StackOverflow?
