I've seen several other questions about how to email correspondent's automatically but I don't see anything about what is a correspondent. I assumed adding someone as a correspondent on a bug would send them an email whenever the bug was changed. Can someone direct me to a place where I can find answers to questions like this or just let me know how I should be using the correspondent field?

At the moment, simply asking those sorts of questions here in this forum is the way to find answers. – cdeszaq Nov 23 2010 at 14:38

The correspondent is initially set to the email address that the case was submitted from. (It can be modified later by editing the case)

Replying to a case will send an email to the correspondent email address.

Cases that are created internally (via "New Case") will not have the correspondent field set.

For someone to be notified whenever a case is changed, they need to be subscribed to the case.
