Ok, so here's how our work flow works sometimes: someone who wants work done (manager, project lead) assigns some tasks to a dev or a tester. Once that dev/tester has finished the manager/project lead wants that task to be checked by another person (not himself). In another tool we've used there is an 'approver' field that can be selected. How would this workflow work in fog bugz? I've tried use workflow, but can't figure out how to do it. |

I've been able to accomplish this somewhat by using the workflow plugin and unchecking the force checkbox on resolve. Doing that lets the person resolving the case assign it to anyone who can then review and close. Maybe not an ideal solution, but it does give you a little more flexibility. The main drawback to this is that the resolver can assign the case to themselves and resolve and close instead of just resolve. I could see this causing a problem in some shops. |

On the Edit Workflow page (Admin->Workflow->Customize Workflows->Edit) you can specify to whom a case gets assigned upon being resolved. You can specify the user for each of the resolve statuses of each of the case types. For instance, here's the customization options for the Bug case type:
Just set those "Assign To" fields to the 'approver' for all resolve statuses and the case will be assigned to him or her upon being resolved regardless of who opened it. |
