Is it possible to have a fogbugz search added to the search field displayed in firefox and IE. (Like in the top right hand corner of firefox which is usually a google searcg)

Yes you can! Once you've logged into FogBugz, your browser should be able to add the FogBugz search provider. In FireFox the menu looks like this:
And in IE the menu looks like this:
