Feature Request: the ability to re-order articles within a Wiki’s Page Hierarchy

Maybe I'm coming at this from the wrong angle, but I'm used to organizing software project documentation in a hierarchical fashion, to make it easy for stakeholders to find the information they're looking for.

An example would be the open source ReadySet templates, with their "By Activity" sort order.

In order for this to be easily navigable, I'd need something like a mashup of the Article Index widget and the Page Hierarchy view. Basically, I'd like for the root of my wiki to show a hierarchical index of articles that's expanded per default.

In the Page Hierarchy view, all pages are collapsed per default, which can make it more difficult for someone to find the specific page they're looking for.

With the Article Index widget, all pages are listed at the top level, sorted by article title (or revision date).

Neither one of these options really lends itself to easy navigation of hierarchically-organized project documentation.

Am I just going about this the wrong way? Is there a better way to organize documentation in the wiki? Should I abandon my natural tendency to organize things into hierarchies? If so, what are some best practices for using document names and tags to help people quickly find their way to the information they need?
