I resolved several cases with a 'duplicate' resolved status and entered the case of which I believed both were duplicates. A coworker disputed that the cases were duplicates. I've re-opened the cases – and removed the contents of the 'Duplicate of' field, but the 'original' case still lists those cases as duplicates and the 'duplicate' cases still indicate that they are duplicates of the 'original' case. How can I 'fix' this?

[I'm not averse to modifying the DB directly. I think it would be helpful to document how this could be done, if only via the DB backend.]

[I've also subsequently edited the re-opened 'duplicate' cases and removed the contents of the 'Duplicate of' field, but doing so does not 'fix' this.]

I think this has to be done directly through the DB. If the bug you incorrectly resolved as duplicate is XXX, you can get rid of it with:

DELETE FROM duplicates WHERE ixBugDupe=XXX;

If you re-open the cases that were resolved as duplicates you can remove the "original" case number from the Duplicate of field. Once you've saved that change these cases will no longer show up as duplicates of the original case.

You can then re-resolve these cases as appropriate.

Much better answer than mine. – James McLeod Oct 13 2010 at 14:21

I wasn't clear enough in the original version of the description for my question. I've edited it to be clearer. I did what you described, but both the 'original' case and the 'duplicate' cases still indicate the duplicate relationship! – Kenny Evitt Oct 15 2010 at 13:42
