Given questions like this one, why did you guys decide to display the FogBugz 8 wiki editor inside of the wiki template?

Our Wiki product has always used a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get or "WYSIWYG" editor. One of the biggest flaws with most WYSIWYG editors (including our old one) is that they are not usually shown inside of the template that the article content will later be wrapped with. In other words, you're not really getting what you're seeing. But in FogBugz 8, if you're using the FogBugz 8 default template for your wiki, our new WYSIWYG editor will appear inside of the template. We've tried to remove as many of the editor's custom styles as possible so that the page you're editing looks as close as possible to the one everyone else will see once you're done editing it. In fact, the only real difference on the Edit page is the editor's toolbar at the top for modifying your article's title and tags. As a result of all the work we've done to ensure that our new editor works properly inside of the FogBugz 8 template, we've also decided to make the FogBugz 8 template read-only. You'll still be able to make changes to our template, but you'll need to first make a copy of it via the new Copy feature we've added to the template list page (Wiki -> Manage Wikis... -> Customize Templates). As a result, our new WYSIWYG editor will only appear inside of the built-in FogBugz 8 template. For all other templates (including copies of the FogBugz 8 default template), the editor will be shown on the page by itself (as described in this answer). |

I'm having the same problem. If you change your wiki template, using the WYSIWYG editor's purpose is completely defeated since what you see is NOT what you get. I would strongly suggest considering my last request to enable another method of editing.
I really wonder what the reason was behind choosing the first two for the FogBugz wiki. |
