Hi,

We are just getting started with FB although we have been using the product for about 5 years. Two features I would love to see (unless they are already there and I can't find them).

  1. Making a project or group inactive. I understand that we do not want to delete any items here. However, we do lots of small projects for lots of customers and our pick lists for projects is huge. We are usually only working on 4 or 5 projects at a time. A simple flag to deactivate would be great. This would hide the project and/or group from all of the pick lists, etc.

  2. Visual indicator on the bug grid of whether a user has permission to see and/or edit a bug. I recently assigned a task to a developer which he completed. However, when I asked him to resolve the bug, he said he could not see it and when I gave him the number, it told him that he did not have permission to view it. It turned out that the project was incorrect for the bug. However, in my view, there was no indiciation that he could not view something I had assigned to him.

Keep up the great work!

Scott

This isn't really an answer so much as just some additional information about FogBugz, but when you assigned the case to the developer who didn't have view/edit access to the project there should have been a warning like the following at the top of the page after you saved your changes:

Permissions warning

This may have been an upgrade issue but I did not see that warning screen. Also - any comment on the deactivating project idea? – Scott Butler Nov 9 2010 at 14:45

As far as how to "deactivate" a project, if an Admin deletes the project, it is only soft-deleted and can be re-activated very easily from the Projects admin page. This will remove the project from the drop-down list on the Case Edit page like you are looking for.
