It looks like as part of the FogBugz 8 upgrade, all our wikis were switched over to the new FogBugz 8 Default Template. Is this expected behavior? Any reason not to use the templates the wikis originally were configured for?

Okay, so, yes, this is expected behavior. And yes, there is a reason. We did do quite a bit of talking and thinking about this and tried to choose the option that would provide the highest amount of awesome and the lowest amount of pain for our customers. We respect our customers and we don't do this stuff lightly. There's a lot of new functionality bound up in the wiki template. It would be very hard for an old template to compete with it. And it would be very hard to see the amount of improvement in the wiki with the old template. We didn't want to change the face you show to the outside world, so we left those alone if they used modified or custom templates. Internal was upgraded automatically, but your old wiki templates are still there. Changing back is trivial. The subset of people who had both used and customized the wiki, but not made that customization public was pretty dang small. This wasn't so much a risk as a heuristic
We didn't do this well because it was not obvious what we'd done or how to undo it. But it is very easy to undo it, and very unlikely to be incorrect in the big picture. Sorry this was jarring to you. |

Yes. We've made a bunch of improvements to the wiki, including what we think is a much better template, so we've taken the liberty of upgrading it for you. Here are the template upgrade rules. For more info about what exactly is so awesome about the new template, see this question. |
