It would be really nice on the case detail screen to have a button to create a new child case for the currently displayed case.

I see that you can do something similar from the grid-view, just not in the individual case detail view.

bugmonkey is not a solve for us. We have had a lot of subtle issues introduced by scripts, and avoid them. – sam jones Dec 23 at 22:27

When you edit a case you can add subcases or set the parent case.

Check under the "Add Fields" box, "Parent Case" and "Subcases" are both available. – Jacob Oct 26 2009 at 19:58

I saw that, I just thought it would be handy to have it available without having to do the extra click to go into edit mode. Also it seemed a little non-intuitive since I wasn't planning on actually editing that case. – JohnFx Oct 27 2009 at 1:06
You can add the relationships but you can't add a new (sub) case. – CADbloke May 18 at 1:00

Hello RC, your script it's ok. I Have some custom filed into my cases; how can I copy the value of this fields into the new subcase?

We use a lot of subcases. In my experience everyone expects a link to "Add Subcase" to be on this view. If the link just took you to the New Case form with the Parent Case, Project and Area defaulted, that would be sufficient. It can be frustrating to go about creating subcases in other less direct ways.
