The auto-subscribe plugin is great for getting you subscribed to all cases in a project. However, the inbox is quickly filled with spam such as "Person A assigned case X to Person B." Is there any way for subscriptions to be more customizable and only send an email when, for example, the case discription changes? Are there any plans for changing the way a subscription works for FogBugz 8.0? It would be great to have more options there whether it's built in or enabled in the plugin api.

Because filtering capability is so much more robust in email clients than it likely ever will be in FogBugz, we tend toward the more-is-more approach for notifications. These notifications are predictably structured, so they can be easily filtered by Outlook, Thunderbird, or Gmail. For instance, I filter out all emails with "A case which you opened has been resolved" in the body and "Inbox" in the subject line.

The new plug-in architecture, though, allows for emails to be sent, so the sky's the limit on what kind of notifications you can do.

The problem filtering in the mail client is that it's impossible to configure centrally. We juggle priorities quite a bit, and I'd like to be able to stop priority 6 -> 5 type emails from going out. If we change the backlog order, that generates another email that no-one is interested in. Emails that are important (e.g. you've been assigned this case, do something about it) are getting lost amongst all the other notifications that are irrelevant to our users. And not of all our users are technical, and so asking them to set up filters in their email clients (or doing it for them) is a pain. – Lee Chapman Sep 4 2011 at 16:07

It would be good if you could be selective about which emails you want to receive from Fogbugz....

It would be good if fogbugz have selective notifications general and per project. Because then each developer do not need to have lots of e-mail filters, which eventually may caused misssed information.
