We have two FB instances, one in the UK and one in Germany. We would like to move to a single instance so we can share cases between the sites.

Two questions on this:

(1) Is it possible to merge two FB databases (I suspect not). In this case what we will probably do is to close one instance to new cases and create new cases in the second. It would be neat if there was a way of creating a new FB item for every case in a FB instance with a link back to that original instance.

(2) How can we merge the licenses for both instances so all users can access both instances? It looks like this should be allowed by the license but I'm not clear on the actual logistics of doing this.

  1. Your suspicions are correct. True merging is not supported. It shouldn't be too difficult, though, to recreate each open case from the old install into the new one, with a link back. We can help with this. (Gives us a chance to flex our Python muscles.) You'll need a test instance of each install for us to iterate on, though. (This is also supported by our licensing.)
  2. Just install all your licenses on both machines. It's supported by your license agreement. If you have trouble, contact us (which you're probably going to do anyway).
