There are several columns that I essentially never care about, but they still show up on various filters and searches. For example, when I use the search box to look for cases with a certain term, the resulting page shows columns for 'Due' and 'Time Zone', which are never useful to me.

I can manually hide them, but I have to repeat this process several times a day. I would like to simply disable these columns for all of my interactions with FogBugz. Is that possible?

You can customize which columns show up in your saved filters. Just run your filter, select the columns, and click "Save." Next time you run that filter, it'll only have the columns you want. As long as none of the filters you run have the columns you don't care about, you should never see them (even in searches).

Search will always use the columns that are contained in your current filter, which I think is the most logical thing to do (though I'm open to suggestions :).

If you find yourself always always filtered cases based on search, it's best to put that search into a filter as the "search for" parameter, and then specify your columns and sort order.

Also, we also have a feature request open (case FC1121669) to allow you to specify columns in your search query (e.g., assignedto:me show:area).

Rob, I don't see a question where we can vote up FC1121669. Do we need to create one or can I assume we'll see the "show" functionality very soon? Our users would love to see this. – Jared Nov 17 2010 at 19:02
