I would like to see a report that looks almost exactly like the Per-User Completion Dates Report, but instead of showing one line per user, I'd like to see one line per open project/milestone. As far as I can tell, there is no comprehensive report that predicts when projects will be completed. Missing comprehensive project reporting tools drives my boss nuts and makes him think the product is pointless.

This would be a huge improvement for our PMs, who are always trying to determine the full scope of what everyone is working on. +1 – cdeszaq Jul 28 2010 at 12:45

If every user's per-project %-time is set appropriately in My Settings, each project's ship date graph will take them into account and give your boss the predicted ship dates for each one.

Flipping between a number of these might drive me crazy as well, and FogBugz is supposed to organize you and keep projects under control, not drive people nuts!

I have opened a case to consider the ability to overlay the multiple project+milestone graphs into an overview for a future release. Please up-vote this question (not this answer) to show your support for adding this feature.

What would happen if the per-project time was not set? (ie. If "all other projects" was set to, say, 75%) Would the timelines and the rest of the scheduling software still account for working on so many tasks concurrently? If not, what happens? (please let me know if this should be a separate question) – cdeszaq Jul 28 2010 at 12:47
If a % time is set for a project, that project's EBS charts will use it to spread the work out over the working schedule. If none is set, it will use the All Other FogBugz Tasks % time. This means that every such chart you look at assumes that you're devoting All-Other-FogBugz-Tasks% of your time to it, i.e. ignoring other All-Other-FogBugz-Tasks projects for the purposes of the charts – adambox Jul 28 2010 at 13:36
So, if I am understanding this correctly, any project for which a user does not explicitly set a % time is charted as if the % time for that project = %-time for all other FB tasks. This leads me to think that all non-specified projects are all going to be happening simultaneously, so adding a new project with a bunch more work (that doesn't have a %-time allocation) will not impact the schedules of the rest of the non-estimated projects. Is this correct? (it seems strange) – cdeszaq Aug 12 2010 at 13:01
That is correct. It seems like a reasonable default so a) you don't have to obsessively set the % time on ALL projects and b) FogBugz doesn't have to try to guess how to split time between the projects that don't have a % time set – adambox Aug 12 2010 at 13:23
