We're using the Product Backlog plugin.

Is it possible to get at the backlog values through the XML API?

If not, are there any work arounds?

Afaik this isn't possible, but let's wait for "official" answer. Most plugins do not expose their functionality via XML API, although some do so implicitly ... i.e. workflow plugin. – Peter Štibraný♦ Jul 5 2010 at 13:28
