We don't use the email autosorting at the moment, so we never have cases in the Inbox project. How can I deactivate this project to remove it from all the project lists? Unlike the default Area, I can't remove it. And it has a bunch of areas that I can't delete so it's not really appropriate to just commandeer it for some other project.

There is no way to remove the Inbox project currently. You can rename it and use it for something else, but it will always be listed in Admin -> Projects with the description noting that it is used for Autosort.

We have a case open to consider the ability to delete the Inbox project for a future release. Please up-vote this question to show your support for this.

We find the inbox project super annoying and would love to get rid of it. I think this is a case of "please don't force your ideal of how your product should be used onto your users who are actually using it". =) Thanks for your consideration. – aseemk Mar 17 2011 at 5:38
