Maybe I'm missing something, but I find it strange that I have to save my wiki edits (and thus commit a snapshot to history) in order to preview how my wiki page will look. Esp. when using Wiki blocks, you don't really know what the page is going to look like until you actually save it.

Being able to preview a wiki page before saving it would keep the page's history from getting cluttered up.

If you use the built-in wiki template, the editor is rendered as WYSIWYG, i.e. inside the template.

Any sort of an idea of WHEN we can get our hands on this wiki overhaul? – cdeszaq Jul 23 2010 at 15:21
Earliest (the current target): the next major release (FogBugz 8) – adambox Jul 23 2010 at 19:47
+1 for preview. Any chance we'll get a plain text editor as well, with standard "wiki markup"? (Something like Redmine or Basecamp)? – David Faivre Aug 10 2010 at 20:40
You can edit the html source with the new wiki editor in FogBugz 8. Check out the beta post: fogbugz.stackexchange.com/beta – adambox Aug 11 2010 at 13:53
The current editor combines to bad sides of all worlds -- it suggests WYSIWYG but save changes the appearance. While it hides vital information like where are the paragraph breaks, making both editing and formatting paragraphs a nightmare. As long as the edit differs from view, there is a need for a preview. Though I would need the standard wiki0markup text editor more. – pasa Apr 27 2012 at 8:18

this issue should remain open and relevant, as the wiki editor overhaul in version 8 did nothing to address the lack of a "preview" option.

In theory, that is the case. However, I would say that at least 40% of the time after I save a wiki page, I end up having to go in and re-edit it because the formatting does NOT match what I saw during editing - extra line feeds, messed up bullet indentation, etc. – Jeff Smith Aug 14 at 11:13

It's upset to see that preview feature is still now available yet. It should be very usefully to let author see the output before they saving it to avoid unnecessary useless commits. Or maybe I miss the tip of how to use it if it's been already out there?
