I'm having trouble with my VSS integration: when trying to preview diffs I get an "Out of Memory" error.

Solution: If you are trying to preview diffs using the VSS integration and you receive an "Out of Memory" error, you should install Source Safe SP6. You can also remedy this problem by installing Visual Studio 6 SP5. According to Microsoft's Knowledge Base, you can also contact them for a fix. Warning: Before you run SP6, make sure there isn't another service running that uses the VSS DLLs (e.g. do you have a program called Cruise Control running?), because if there is, that service could lock the DLLs and SP6 can silently fail to update them! If you can't think of another service that might interfere, take a note of the version numbers of the VSS DLLs mentioned below before running SP6 and then run it. If you still get the Out of Memory error after running SP6, make sure the version numbers of the DLLs have changed! If they have not, then the SP did not succeed. SP6 can remove some permissions that FogBugz needs. You must now make sure that the FogBugz user has READ access on all your VSS folders and all subfolders. The user must also have FULL CONTROL on the names.dat and the rights.dat files, and the LoggedIn directory. Also it must have FULL CONTROL ON THE SSUS.DLL and SSAPI.DLL in order to create the SourceSafe COM object.
