Hello, I just(like, 10 minutes ago) started to try out a free demo of FogBugz and while we are a small startup of only 2 people, we would like for end users(which right now is in the 10s) to be able to submit issues by a web interface. Is this what the community user type is intended for?

If you enable the public case submission feature, anyone who has the URL to the case submission web form can send issues into your FogBugz system; they don't even need to be designated as a community user to do this. They can also send emails to any mailbox you've created in FogBugz and that'll create cases as well.

Community users take things one step further than "public users" I've described above. Community users require email verification but do not require a license. They provide a way to allow non-FogBugz users access to wikis and discussion groups.

We've also recently added even better support for Community Users to FogBugz. You can read a blog post about the new functionality here: fogcreek.com/FogBugz/blog/post/… – db Sep 29 2010 at 14:26

If you're expecting a lor of end users you might be better off using a service like UserVoice to gather bug reports, feature requests, voting etc from the community rather than having non-development people inside FogBugz. I feel that would lead to all sorts of bloat in your FogBugz. Think of it as a filtering / firewall process.

We will have quite a few, but it's not open to the world, so <100 and probably <30 submitting bugs and such. (As there is like End Users and then there's the Power Users and IT people and such) – earlz Apr 28 2010 at 23:50
