On the global milestones report, when you view per-user timelines, the legend shows it's possible for an user (or a case?) to be blocked.
When does this happen?

This means that all of the cases assigned to this user are in milestones that can't be completed yet. Basically, they don't have anything to do (yet). An example might be a case like "Do performance testing" in the "Code complete" milestone, where the "Code complete" milestone depends on the "Write the code" milestone and all its cases. If I have the performance testing case and I'm finished with all my coding, but other teammates are running behind, I'm blocked. There's nothing for me to do until the code is written. Sometimes, there's not much you can do. If the new servers are in the mail, you can't install them. Other times, you can spread the work around to balance things out. Concretely, this can only happen if you have assigned start dates or dependencies to some of your milestones. |
