Whenever I create a new case or edit an existing active case and click "OK" to save, why doesn't FogBugz send me back to the case list view (like Gmail does afterI send an e-mail). Instead, it just shows me the case again in read-only mode. This seems inefficient. Isn't going back to the case list a better user experience overall?

I would suggest making the behavior an option for users. The site administrator can set a default value, but let the ultimate behavior be up to the user if they want it different. The options could be to go back to the case info page (current behavior), back to the case list, or to the next case in the list (if the user was working through a list of cases, closing them out or something)

I agree with Rob that going back to the case list is more efficient in general. I can not imagine someone expecting to see the same case's information again in read-only mode ...

So I would not add a new configuration option but directly suggest to change the standard behavior.

I find the current behavior to be quite useful in order to double-check that the changes I made are actually the ones I wanted to make. Especially when I was first using the system, I found myself accidentally making some changes or forgetting to make a change. Going back to the read-only mode after submitting gave me a quick, easy way to double-check what I just did. – cdeszaq Mar 10 2010 at 14:24
You've just said the key words: "... when I was first using the system ...". Indeed, it's useful when you're a newcomer user but, please, wait for a few weeks using FogBugz and then give us your opinion again ... – Ray Mar 31 2010 at 13:57
