When I edit a case in Fogbugz, at first the edit box is about 8 lines long. As I type the box grows.

What happens to me is when the box grows my cursor (caret, insert point) jumps to the top left of the edit box.

We are using FogBugz Version 6.1.39 (DB 630, Build 214) I am running IE 8 on Windows 7

My co-workers don't see this behavior. Any suggestions?

This was talked about in the discussion group here, here, and here. You're going to have to update to FogBugz 7 to get rid of this problem (I just tried it with version 7.2.16 and it doesn't exhibit this bug). It has something to do with IE8's Compatibility View (see that last discussion group post to which I linked).

One thing I discovered when I first came across this problem was that, if you navigate to your FogBugz site via its IP address rather than its computer name, it behaves properly. So, if upgrading to FB7 is not an option right now, you could try that. Better yet, switch to Firefox (in which this was never a problem).

In FB 6, I do not see any change when I use compatibility mode, or access the site by IP, or with dotted Fully qualified domain name. Perhaps those workarounds work for FB 7? Thanks for the links. I will use Firefox until we upgrade (and likely after as well). – Michael Levy Mar 4 2010 at 14:57
Yes, we did encounter this bug in the FB7 beta. I guess nobody had moved to IE8 before we left FB6, so we never saw it with FB6. – Greg Saven♦ Mar 4 2010 at 16:03
