I love the functionality provided to look at projects. The way the sliders on the reports allow you to analyze multiple milestones across a single project is really ingenious.

Can we extend this to allow the same functionality to be used across projects? I'm managing several projects and it would be great to essentially swap out "milestones" for "projects" in the reports.

Including project via slider (like milestones) allows me to see the overall health of a program/portfolio - the same as I can use multiple milestones per project. It would be great to include projects via slider to see when I can expect each to complete (a la developer ship date), etc.

I'm sure you guys could come up with really cool features to allow management at this level.

Have you tried using global milestones in your various project? You can then view them in EBS to see how the multiple projects are doing just like you do for per-project milestones.

Update: We have a case open to consider this feature for a future release. Please up-vote this question to show your support for adding this feature.

This definitely makes sense - just not for our environment. - We have too many projects in progress at a given time - The milestone lists would be filled with all of the globals which don't really have anything to do with your particular project. - Some people get "confused" if they don't recognize a milestone. I think it's silly but it's a reality of our situation. – Marc Moroz Feb 9 2010 at 16:03
that makes sense. how about using areas within one project for things that fit together in the same portfolio? – adambox Feb 17 2010 at 21:40
We have around 200 active projects across 5-10 portfolios (don't really know the portfolio count). Some projects have more than 2,000 cases and rely on area to help keep things organized. On top of that, different organizations are particular on how area is used in their projects. – Marc Moroz Feb 26 2010 at 21:51

Marc, sounds like a good justification for this type of feature. I've added your comment on the use case to our FogBugz case. – adambox Mar 1 2010 at 15:59
