As we know, filters are a good tool to easily work with a subset of the registered cases, showing only the cases that are of interest in a particular case (e.g. cases related with a particular milestone of a project).

Although filters have been implemented in a way that the visible columns are also remembered, we have detected that the list of columns to be shown is different depending on the development stage in which you are. For example: the columns to be shown when you are analyzing a request are different to the columns that are useful when you are developing the solution or even when you are testing the final executable.

Is there any way to create different "views" (that is, different subsets of columns), save them with a name and then recall them when a filter is applied?

I think the easiest way (and only way that I'm aware of) to get what you're looking for, is to just save multiple copies of the filter you would like different "views" for, each with a slightly different name. For example, "Active beta cases - Request View," "Active beta cases - Dev View," "Active beta cases - Test View," etc.

Thanks, db, but that was the only way I supposed it could be done ... I expect someone could provide a better solution or, at least, consider this as a feature request ! – Ray Feb 8 2010 at 7:15
this might be doable with a plugin. I've filed a case for evaluation – adambox Feb 18 2010 at 20:07
