Has anyone come up with a good way to get around the 10MB attachment limit in FogBugz on demand? We've been loving FogBugz (we're on the 45 day trial) but the 10MB limit is really annoying.

Our contact at Fog Creek suggested we sign-up for DropBox or a similar service then write a plug-in to handle uploads in FogBugz. However we are not in the FogBugz development business and therefore don't particularly like the idea :).

Has someone else written such a plug-in that we could use? Or found some other way? Hosting FogBugz ourselves is simply not an option.

Thanks,

-James

Just out of curiosity, what are these huge files that you need to attach? The only thing we ever attach to a case is a screen shot, or an occasional log file, neither of which ever exceeds more than a few hundred kilobytes. – Greg Saven Jan 30 2010 at 20:35
We don't normally have "huge" files to attach... a 20MB file, twice the FogBugz limit, isn't what I'd consider "huge". In our case, its mostly Word and PDF documents that just happen to be larger than 10MB. – James Feb 10 2010 at 12:12

We would like to be able to attach PhotoShop PSD files to cases, this allows us to have some version control and one central location with permissions already set, where we can upload these relevant files. We use DropBox or FTP for larger files, but that isn't ideal. A typical PSD file we use is between 10MB and 40MB, but they can be zipped up to about 40% of original file size. We would also like to see a way to increase attachment sizes. – Spencer Sep 24 2010 at 16:55

Send it via email... I've received emails larger than 10MB.

Just tried this with a 25MB file. Oddly, the single email created two tickets. Why can't we just attach them? Seems silly. – James Jan 29 2010 at 20:17
Hi James - It's important to note that there is a ~25MB limit on email attachments. This much is allowed because the SMTP servers are used for multiple platforms, some of which need a little more headroom. Generally speaking, FogBugz On Demand was not engineered to handle large attachments, and the 10MB attachment rule allows us to minimize performance penalties incurred with larger files. – Michael Gorsuch Feb 1 2010 at 16:40
If there is a 25MB limit, why is FogBugz now rejecting 20MB emails? – James Feb 16 2010 at 13:47

While it's possible to email files larger than 10MB into FogBugz On Demand, this should be considered a loophole rather than a workaround. As per Michael Gorsuch's comment, we need to have a higher limit on our incoming email boxes for other reasons. The 10MB limit is there to ensure the correct operation of FogBugz On Demand. If you need larger files than this, for the foreseeable future, the only real workaround is to host FogBugz on your own server.

Hosting on our own server isn't an option. – James Feb 10 2010 at 12:15
