Our company is seriously looking at this application. However, we have several software developers who are outsourced (contractors), and who work off-site. Is it possible to configure access to FogBugz so these contractors can access the FogBugz application via the Web, and have their permissions set internally (by group)?

Thanks,

Bill Beard Jr.

Note that the way permissions are assigned has changed in FogBugz 8.0. You can add users directly to a project or use the new groups: fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/4329 – adambox Nov 4 2010 at 18:52

Yes and Yes. But I'm a software developer... you probably want to chat with one of the people on our sales team. You're always welcome to call us for more details.

Technically speaking: Yes, groups can do that. If you use On Demand, you won't have to do anything special to give your outsourced users access.

If you're hosting FogBugz yourself, youl could do it by exposing (at least part) of fogbugz to the public internet. If you do that, I'd recommend turning on the 'Fog Creek Password Policy' once you install (make sure that no goofy passwords compromise your data.

A more secure method would be to give your oursourced users access to FogBugz via a VPN, thus keeping your FogBugz install off of the public internet. That's what we do here ;-)

Hi Bill,

I'm an account manager here at Fog Creek; I'd be happy to speak with you about FogBugz in more detail. Jude is correct in describing how FogBugz can be set up to provide secure remote access for off-site users (developers, partners, customers, etc.).

Please feel free to reach me on 646-826-3864 or damian@fogcreek.com or let me know at what number I can reach you.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Damian
