It would be nice to be able to collapse long event entries.

A feature like this can be implemented as plugin without much hassle. So maybe you should post that as plugin request also (or instead).

This could also be done pretty easily with a BugMonkey script. If I get a chance to, I'll whip up the code for it and post it here.

I like that idea. This would allow you to tidy up a case that has become unwieldy. Perhaps the event could collapse down to an ellipsis, Visual Studio style. This might be asking too much, but it would also be pretty cool if, also like VS, the collapsed event displayed in a tool tip when you hovered over that ellipsis.

How can I collapse/hide large case events?
