I know that you can set up your filters to sort on 3 columns, but those 2nd and 3rd columns aren't denoted as sorted on in the grid view.

We have a case open to add indicators for the secondary and tertiary sort columns, but when I was trying to draw up some ideas, I had trouble conveying the information in such a small space. If you have any design ideas, feel free to send them ;)

I'm a little confused- does this not exist?

Click on a column header, then a second, then a third: The grid view is now sorted in accordance with the reverse order that you clicked.

So, if I click on 'priority', then 'area', my grid view will be sorted first by area, and second by priority.

It does do that, but there is no visual indicator of whats being sorted in what order. So if I click to sort on a different column, or if I go do something else and come back and have forgotten what columns I've clicked to sort on, I then don't know what the order is of the columns being sorted. The only visual indicator is on the last column that was clicked. Which I think is confusing. – Jessica Jan 18 2010 at 20:29
I agree, that is confusing. I'll file a request to see about helping out that UI. It's challanging to do it cleanly, but you're absolutely right that some sort of visual feedback is needed. – Jude Allred Jan 19 2010 at 21:18

Thank you Jude! Even if its only an arrow symbol with a # inside it (for the sort order), that would be a tremendous improvement. – Jessica Feb 4 2010 at 19:46
You could also possibly stack arrows on top of each other, either overlapping or non-overlapping depending on how much vertical space is available. – cdeszaq Mar 18 2010 at 13:36
