We need to tidy up our configuration of FogBugz. I.e. we have to restructure the way we use Projects, Areas, and Milestones by deleting the ones we do not use anymore.

However, the problem is that there are a lot of cases in those Projects, Areas, and Milestones.

What happens to cases in a Project, Area, or Milestone that is deleted?

  1. Deleted projects still exist in the system and are available to search results.
  2. Cases are also still reflected as being in that Project/Area/Milestone when you look at them.
  3. If an existing saved filter includes the deleted project, it does not change when the project is deleted and works as expected.
  4. Deleted projects are removed from all drop-down menus: for case creation and editing (except for #2 above) and making new filters or editing filters (except for #3 above).

It's worth noting that #1 is only true for system admins and project admins. Non project admins can't see deleted project cases in search results. THere is another feature request that succinctly requests a distinction between archived and deleted projects: fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/1385/… – Ryan CTO Aug 31 at 5:20
