I'm editing and issue, and would like to add a cc: correspondent, since the person needs to now be aware of this issue.

  1. How do I do this if the correspondent has a fogbugz account?

  2. How do I do this if the correspondent doesn't have a fogbugz account?

Hi Mark,

  1. If the correspondent has a FB account, it's customary to assign the case to him/her then assign it back to yourself. That will cause an email alert to be sent the user, and you will remain the assignee.

  2. There's currently no way to make a private case visible to an external user, but you can easily use the email functionality in the case view to send an email to the user containing a summary of the case. The email will then of course be stored as an event within the case.

I've opened a case to ensure that we reevaluate this design for a future release.

+1 for reevaluating this. It is commonplace for more than one developer to need to be aware of the case status. – chrism1 Jan 28 2010 at 17:20
Ideally I still want to be able to open a new case on behalf of someone else. That way all notifications will go to them as the case status changes instead of to me. – Donovan J. Edye Jan 4 2011 at 20:42
I'd like to be able to assign correspondents to cases I open as well. I received a list of issues from a client today. I'd like to enter each as a case, and assign 3 correspondents to each so that they can track progress of the case. I also want the case to show up in the "Your cases" section in the bottom left of the screen for all 3 of them. I tried adding multiple correspondent email addresses separated by commas, but it didn't seem to work. Is there another way to accomplish this without using correspondents? – Jon Mar 8 at 5:10

Multiple correspondents are not fully supported. Vote up: fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/8230/… – Michel de Ruiter Mar 8 at 9:01
