After a case has been started, is it possible to give an estimate of the time remaining, rather than the total time needed?

E.g. I estimate a task as one day, then after half a day I realize there's more work that I hadn't considered, so I think it'll take 2 additional days of work (for a total of 2.5 days).

It would be nice if I could enter an estimate for the remaining work, rather than having to update the total estimate (which I forget to do, then get confused when the 'renaming time' column looks wrong).

This supports SCRUM and is related to fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/5648/… – James Bayley Jun 17 2011 at 9:18
I wonder if this can be done with a bug monkey script see fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/8485/… – James Bayley Jun 17 2011 at 9:27

I would be particularly interested in this feature - it would definitely fit better with the way my developers think about things. When would this be likely to be moved from backlog into the production list? – David Mitchell Apr 21 2010 at 20:35
we'd like that too. it's hard to update the "current estimate" correctly so no one uses it. the "remaining time" is easier to estimate and we could use it for scrum (we use plain old burndown charts without ebs). – stmax May 18 2010 at 7:42

I've created a plugin that does exactly this. It allows you to enter the elapsed interval, plus the remaining, and then updates the current estimate to be based on the combination of hrsElapsedExtra + remaining. Maybe this is a worthwhile plugin to expose publically? – Ken Perkins Aug 10 2010 at 20:26

Ken, we'd love to see this! – Rich Armstrong Oct 26 2010 at 14:40
+1 for the plugin. Is it publicly available? Where could I find it? – Andy Vaughan Mar 11 2011 at 16:37

This is exactly what I'm looking for too. Ken, is it available to the community to download anywhere?

I agree the estimate of the time remaining would be very useful

Did anyone get a response from Ken regarding using this plugin.

Thanks! Walter
