Why can't i do that?

Set a miletone - yes, but not a priority?

It's a common task of a team lead or manager - to rearrange work by priority.

Great! You can support feature requests by voting up the question. – Rich Armstrong Dec 29 2009 at 20:13
In our organization, many fields are requested for edit directly from the grid view, but Priority stands out as the most requested field. While I'm behind the request that all fields be available for edit from the grid view, adding priority to the short list of supported fields would be a welcome step in that direction. – Grip Jan 11 2011 at 21:04
I think this can be a very useful feature!! Let's go ahead! – Andrea - Eurosystem2000 Mar 24 at 16:45
It would be better to set priority not from context menu, but from pop-up dialog as it is implemented for 'set estimate' field. – Dmitry Lobanov Apr 11 at 4:10

There is a case open for this, and I have linked it to this question.

See also this question's answer about the general case of making edits from grid view.

Hello, what is the status of the open case about this feature?

Editing in grid view as requested here will solve this and similar problems.

Can we get some kind of commitment to when this feature will be available?

+1.... I would be happy with a one-click edit option. Right now it is 2 clicks: Open grid menu, edit. Why not a little edit glyph right in the grid?

And a + and - glyph, to bump priority up 1 or down 1....

These things would make such a difference, and clearly can be done with the current grid..
