Hi all,

We've got some filters which were created by a user who no longer uses the system.

We need to edit the names of his filters. Logging on as Administrator, I can access the details of his shared filters via the via the "Edit" icon. However, clicking "Save" does nothing - I'm returned to filter list, as if the system has accepted the changes. But it hasn't.

The interface is confusing - it looks like I can edit, when in fact I can't. A notification that I don't have the right to edit the filter would be good.

Cheers, Justine

This could be seen as a feature request, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's just a bug. Admins should be able to change ownership of global filters, and delete them. We have an existing request for this open and I have linked to it here.

Update: As of FogBugz 8.3, site admins can unshare any shared filter.

Agreed. Administrators can do just about anything else in FogBugz; seems very wrong that they can't edit and delete shared filters. – danielm Mar 13 2010 at 23:36
I've filed the case. – Rich Armstrong Mar 16 2010 at 17:42

In the longer term, it seems like this is an issue that might need to be fixed. In the short term, you could login as the user you mentioned and change the names of his shared filters.

Hi Ken!

Yep, that was the workaround we used.

Hmm - how about the following for the future ... ?

The administrator can transfer "ownership" of a filter between users. Great for when a person leaves the system, and another person takes over the role, including managing a team's filters.

Cheers! Justine
