If I don't upgrade to FogBugz 7, will Fog Creek continue to support questions via this forum?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: It depends. If you keep a current maintenance contract with us, we'll support you until the end of time via email, phone, carrier pigeon, discussion board, stackexchange, whatever. If you don't, well, we'll still support you, but will have to prioritize support to other customers with valid contracts first.

As to supporting prior versions of FogBugz, it's sort of a complex question. A good example of this is an annoying little bug with IE8 and FogBugz 6. When the textarea fills up and resizes in IE8, your cursor will move to the top of the textarea. Really annoying, but not really our fault, since it worked fine with all current browsers when FogBugz 6 was the current version of FogBugz.

Will we go back and fix this for FogBugz 6 so that people can use it with IE8? Not really sure. It doesn't sound like a valuable use of our time when an upgrade fixes the issue and there is the valid workaround of using a browser version that matches the time period of the version of FogBugz you're using.

Known issues are just that. It can already be great to know the cause and a workaround (in your example, not using IE8, but another browser or version). – Arsène von Wyss Feb 1 2010 at 18:12
