<p>I often use FogBugz in multiple tabs in my web browser, but the way FogBugz handles what page you get returned to after finishing a case leads to some very strange behavior in many cases.</p> <p>The current behavior is that, after resolving/closing a case, or clicking the "List Cases" button, you will get returned to whichever filter was most recently viewed in FogBugz. However, the "most recent filter" may very well be one that was loaded in a completely different context, whether it be another open tab in your web browser, or even on another machine!</p> <p>For example, say I'm going through my inbox answering e-mails. One e-mail gives me an idea for a feature/bug that I want to file on one of my projects, so I open up a filter for cases in that project in another tab, then enter a new case there for the feature/bug. When I return to the e-mail and answer it, after I'm done, instead of getting sent back to my inbox, I get sent back to the filter for the project. After letting out a little grumble, I then have to manually click on my inbox filter to get back to where I wanted to go.</p> <p>Even better, say I have a filter open in one tab for a while. I later return to that tab, and decide I want to tweak the filter criteria to show something slightly different (e.g. cases in a different milestone, or whatever). If I happen to have loaded another filter in any other tab since I loaded the one I'm looking at, the criteria change I make gets applied to whatever that other filter was, rather than the filter I'm looking at in <em>this</em> tab <em>right now</em>. Needless to say, this tends to have pretty bizarre and useless results.</p> <p>Basically what I'd like to see is, whatever filter I'm currently looking at, or was looking at to find the case I'm currently looking, that filter should be passed forward to whatever else ends up happening in that tab, whether it be returning to the case list after closing a case, changing the filter, or whatever else. The whole concept of a global "current filter" just doesn't seem to work very well, unless you only ever work with one filter, or only ever work with one tab.</p>
