Can I bulk remove tags?

Is there a way to remove all tags in my Bugz so my team can start with a clean slate?

Also - can I upload an excel or csv file with a list of tags I want my team to use?

(Plugin) How do I read the tags of a case when it is edited?

Is there any way I can read a cases tags in a plugin when it's edited? I'm currently using IPluginBugCommit.BugCommitAfter, however it seems to only contain a list of added tags (rgsTagsAdded) and removed tags (rgsTagsRemoved).

My plugin needs to know whether the case has a certain tag, even if it wasn't just added.

Is there any way to do this?

I can see that the reports menu has become the 'schedules' menu in FogBugz 8, but now it appears that the "tags" page is missing. Where can I go to see all the tags that are in use? Thanks!

We use branch-per-feature and maintain a handful of branches per actively supported release. We originally used tags, but it turned into a nightmare. Having the "in tag " on cases was very helpful for our support staff to know if this fix was in a build for them. If it's feasible, we'd love to have the same kind of indication for branches.

Search for cases not containing a tag

Tag Notification

I know we are able to subscribe to an RSS feed for tags (tag history). I would really like to take this a step further. What I mean is, I'd like to be able to SUBSCRIBE to a tag so that I get an email notification whenever a case is created with this tag.

This would allow anyone who "specializes" in a subject (tag) to be notified and possibly intervene sooner in order to help out with the case.

I have not found this in FogBugz. If this already exists please let me know. Otherwise, is this something that can be added?

Mirror Tagging Features From Stackoverflow

Are there any plans to allow tagging synonyms, tag wikis / excerpts and tag completion that includes excerpts in future versions of FogBugz (or perhaps a plugin or two from the Stackoverflow dev team?).

I continually find many of our cases or wikis have way too many tags that are very similar (such as doc document documents documentation all for the same case or wiki). Having some of these advanced features would allow us to clean a lot of this stuff up (often caused by casual users, that leave us regular users stuck to clean up the mess).

Ability to add tags to cases created from emails into a mailbox

I would like to be able to add a tag (or tags) to cases created from incoming email to mailboxes so I can track their progress through to completion.

We have a mailbox that requests are submitted to, fogbugz picks them up and creates cases in a specific project for them, but once the request is approved the case is moved from that project to another where the work is done against the case until resolution and closing.

The problem is, unless the person who migrates the case to the second project remembers to tag it appropriately, a high level overview filter to show the state of request cases that were moved won't be much use.

If we could have the mailbox tag the case when it creates it into the initial project, we can then track the tag through regardless of where the case ends up. This could be achieved by either manually specifying the tag or tags you would want on every case, or to automate it with AutoSort somehow so it tags with the name of the mailbox or something equally useful for you.

Feature request: tag descriptions

Right now I'm in the middle of creating a wiki page for documenting the meaning of some of our commonly-used case tags, and I just realized, it would be nice if I could just document the tags from the tag report page by adding a description. These descriptions could show up when hovering the mouse over tags in cases and wiki pages, similarly to the tags on stackoverflow.com.

What about tags? The URL for a tag called "meta" is:

But putting a colon in the link field generates an error:

Wiki and Article names cannot contain colons or @'s, and they cannot consist entirely of numbers.

I wanted to rename a couple tags and it appears there is no way to do that. I'm surprised that functionality is missing as it seems pretty obvious how useful it could be.

Edit: As of FB8 you can retag a case regardless of its status. So, while there is no specific UI for renaming/merging tags, it's now pretty trivial to do so. Filter on the tag to be renamed, bulk edit those cases, remove the old tag, and apply the new. Albeit indirectly, I consider this feature-request fulfilled.

Trouble with boolean searches

I've thrown together a basic webapp for our customers to allow them to see all the support cases they have sent us, or bugs that they have reported or are affected by.

Each case has a "customer" custom field (a dropdown list). If a bug is reported by a single customer, the "customer" field is set to the reporting customer. If several customers have reported a bug, we set the "customer" field to "multiple" and add the customer name as a tag.

I should then be able to search for something like the following: customer:"foo" OR (customer:"multiple" tag:"foo"), but this query returns all the cases where "customer" is "foo" or "customer" is "multiple", regardless of the tags. The search for customer:"multiple" tag:"foo" works as expected. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: The query customer:"foo" OR tag:"foo" does not work either, only the cases where "customer" is "foo" are returned.

In the wiki it would be great to be able to tag all of the documentation as the software is release to say "Version 1.0", "Version 2.0" etc. etc. so you could easily read all of the documents that relate to a specific version, rather than having to view the update history for a page to piece everything back together at a later date.

To search for tags, I have to enter a special syntax into the search box:

tag:this tag:that tag:the-other

It would be nice if there was a tag search box that worked like the tag field on a case. Typing all those "tag:" strings can be a bit tedious. I would like to be able to just enter:

into the tag search box with the help of the auto complete/tag suggestion list functionality that the case tag field has.

One of the interesting things about the Gques project management platform is that you can enter data directly into your task list rather than having to click through to a separate view. This feature seems to be provide for some data columns like Time Estimate but it is not for other like "Tags"

If you have not been tagging but would like to start, it is sort of annoying clicking through case by case to put in tags.

Also for tags, it would be nice if a list of tags are shown when you start typing so (like on stack exchange) so you can avoid too many duplications and permutations.

Adding a new tag to a bunch of pages currently requires entering edit mode for each of them, then saving. This becomes very time consuming when doing organization, grouping pages, etc.

A possible UI could be enabling checkboxes in Search Results, and then Batch Edit, as in case of the cases.

Another idea would be to separate tag and page editing.

Customer Support with multiple products?

Background: I'm new to FogBugz. I'm using one support email address and have three products to support. There will be 1 or 2 people providing support. In general, most of the support questions are related to product usage and registration issues rather than bug reporting. I'm expecting to start with using the InBox project only. Eventually, I expect to add a project for each product. Is this an okay initial approach?

Question: What are my options for marking a case for being related to a specific product? I'd like to have the ability to use a saved filter or something like that to list all cases for a specific product. Would a Custom Field be a good solution? Could it allow two products to be associated with one case? Would using a tag with the product name be recommended (that seems strange for some reason)? Any other approaches?

I also need to decide what Areas to create and learn about using a virtual user. The "Projects and Areas" help page recommends to start by using one area called Miscellaneous. It that in addition to the Spam, Not Spam and Undecided Areas?

On the Tags page (get there from the Reports menu), you can see a list of all of the tags in your system. You also have the option of clicking the tag to bring up all of the cases using that tag.

However, when I click on the "IT_Maintenance" tag, I also get all of the cases with the "StabilityLab" tag. This is because both of them have "it" in them.

I've read http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/1136/how-do-i-search-for-an-exact-match and I get the reasoning for why searches behave this way. However, I think that the tag selection functionality should show you only the cases tagged with what was clicked. I don't think it makes sense for it to do anything other than that.

Is there a way have the tag link automatically use the index of the field as described by adambox in the link above?

Is there a way to find a case with a certain number of tags?

For instance:

Cases with no tags
Cases with 3 tags
Cases with 5 or more tags
Cases with less than 8 tags

I realize that we can search for multiple tags - but I don't know if we can search for just a count. I could see this helping some people if they had a process involving a specific number of tags and wanted to quickly find any cases that didn't fall in line with the process.

Viewing all used Tags

Is there an easy way to see all tags used in the system?

We use tags to classify support cases and are after an easy way to see how many cases with each tag have been received/entered in the system.

At the moment finding this out involves listing all tickets grouped/ordered by tag and then going through and counting each one.
