I have a very small IT group (3 resources) and our company has about 25 employees. How many users would I need in the on demand system for all 25 resources to be able to generate cases with screenshots, etc, and for my 3 IT resources plus one business manager to have access to view all cases?

This sounds crazy but it actually happened to me right now.

My user is Site Admin on our On-Demand instance (demicode.fogbugz.com). I went into My Settings->Options and changed my password. When returning to List Cases I realize I no longer have access to my projects. Also, my access to the Admin Dashboard is gone.

I'm using Chrome 12 on Ubuntu and I'm in Australia. Everything in FogBugz seems a little slow. It's not really slow, but compared to other web apps like Gmail it's quite slow.

For example in the list cases view switching back and forward between a couple of projects that have a dozen open cases each, the page load time is 1.5-2 seconds. This it typical of all the page load interactions.

Is this expected? Is there anything I can do to improve it?

Keys not working in HTML editor

I am currently experiencing a weird bug while editing a case. The letters 'j' and 'k' doesn't work. Any other character works just fine. In Plain mode, 'j' and 'k' works fine.

Editing the same case in a different browser window does not have the same issue, so I'm currently not able to reproduce the bug.

If there is something I could look for in the page source, let me know. I'll keep the faulty editor open for a while.

Kiln errors in 45-day trial in Fogbugz on demand

I just signed up for Fogbugz on Demand, and is currently inside the 45-day trial.

Every few minutes (or whatnot, I'm not certain about the exact interval), an error message pops up at the top of the site ("Warning: Some errors have occurred in your installation."), and clicking on the link presents this error message:

Kiln - Kiln is not responding. - Hide Notification 3/11/2010 5:51 PM (GMT+01:00): Kiln integration will be disabled until FogBugz is able to talk to Kiln. Please check your Kiln installation to make sure it is responding and, if not, contact your Kiln administrator.

I tried hiding this notification, but it came back a short while later.

Checking the on demand account page seems to indicate that the Kiln account is selected, even though I specifically signed up for a non-kiln $25/month account. Clicking on the Fogbugz account button shows a message beneath the buttons that says "FogBugz & Kiln are both free during your free trial.", and no change was done, so apparently that's not the way to handle it.

Is there anything I can do to permanently get rid of those error messages? It's not a big deal but as with all warnings and errors that are there all the time, soon I learn to just ignore it, and then when a real error message comes along, I won't know to click on the link to check out what happened.

SSL Client Certificates for the hosted solution (FogBugz/Kiln On Demand)

If we want to use a web hosted issue tracking/version control solution, it would be necessary to secure the connection with SSL Client certificates (in addition to the Server certificate).

Otherwise, it's simply too easy to expose our entire source code, e.g. when developers get used to logging in from anywhere, on any machine.

Does FogBugz/Kiln On Demand already provide that functionality?

Background

Client certificates would be generated from a common CA (*), and then be installed in the browsers or OS of privileged machines, so the data can only be accessed when using these machines. This would require the server to be configurable to only accept connections with such a certificate (e.g. the Apache web server provides that functionality).

(*) Note: A CA for client certificates in such a setup doesn't require expensive certification from VeriSign/... - it works equally well, if it's self-signed either by the customer, or by Fog Creek, because the client certs would be installed manually anyway.

Can Emails Be Sent Using DomainKeys or DKIM?

The Request
We use FogBugz OnDemand for both project management and customer support. We are trying to get all the emails we send signed using DomainKeys to help with deliverability. I'm wondering if there are plans for FogBugz to support sending emails signed with DomainKeys in the OnDemand environment.

Extra Info
We use SPF as well and have set our SPF DNS record to have include:fogcreek.com in it. That certainly helps, but we are trying to go one step further now.

My guess is that this isn't something needed by most of your customer-base, but I thought I'd throw it out there as a request (especially if others are interested)

I would like to clarify how FogBugz is licensed.

If I have a small software company with 1 guy doing support. (ie. Startup).

What is required license wise if only that person is 'managing/administrating' but you have an unknown. Possibly large number of users with bug reports etc.

Do you have to pay per client access ?

Or is it for 'supervisor/manager/admin' style users only ?

When I'm on my on-demand account I can see all available plugins and easily click to enable/disable them. However, there isn't always a lot of detail as to what individual plugins do. The "ClarkKent" plugin is a good example. "The Superman of FogBugz time reporting." ?? What is that? I'm sure the author thinks it's very neat but without more detail it's hard to agree or disagree or know whether or not we want to install it.

There is an option to download a sql server/mysql file, but that will lock-out everybody and you have to activate Fogbugz yourself again. Not an option for us.

I would like a simple download (preferable that I could automate) of all our data without lockups. Could be a dump to XML or anything that is readable (database, text).

My FogBugz on Demand account has the built in e-mail address for submitting cases and replying to customers of cases@mysitename.fogbugz.com.

The account name box on the Mailbox preferences is disabled so there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to change this.

Is there any possible way I could rename this account, for example to "Support@mysitename.fogbugz.com" or at least set-up an alias for the default e-mail account?

Feature Request: Use any SMTP server for Fogbugz on Demand

We prefer to use the on-demand instead of self-hosting, but we really need outgoing email to funnel through our own mailbox. Fogbugz On Demand uses it's own SMTP server.

I'd like to request at least one of the following features for the on demand version to help solve this:

A way to use our own SMTP box for all outgoing mail
An automatic CC or BCC for all outgoing mail
A copy of all outgoing mail to sent to a 'sent items' folder (or any specified folder) via IMAP

Fogugz on demand is painfully slow

It takes many seconds after doing pretty much any operation. We dont even have that many bugs in the system to warrant such a huge lag.

I love the fogbugz ui but the slow speed is really pushing us to switch to a different bug tracking system.

Anyone else experiencing the same issues with fogbugz on demand?

Edit: We are located in San Francisco, so its definitely not a location issue.

I'd like to add an additional mailbox to my FogBugz On Demand account but I don't want to set up a POP3 or IMAP e-mail address to do it. Currently, I'm having all e-mails from issues@mycompany.com forwarded to cases@mycompany.fogbugz.com.

I'd like to have another e-mail native to FogBugz like the cases@mycompany.fogbugz.com mailbox that comes with my account. For example, I want to set up projectaardvarkcases@mycompany.fogbugz.com to receive forwarded mails from projectaardvarkcases@mycompany.com. This will allow me to automatically put the e-mails from the new address as cases into a new project.

Is this kind of setup possible?

Is it possible in the plug-in API to limit access to FogBugz (or a portion of it) by a known list of IP addresses?

Why? We have an extensive internal wiki of login information, configuration details, etc for our clients. Keeping this data secure is very important to us. We want to move to a hosted wiki solution (and we are already heavy users of FB), but we will only move to a hosted wiki if the solution has a secondary layer of protection.

For example, if a username/password is obtained by a malicious user we want another layer of security to still keep the wiki safe. The easiest method for this additional security is being able to limit access to a known list of IP addresses. That way, if a login was lost it's still useless to an attacker (unless they were on our physical premises, which is unlikely).

Hosted FB is nasty with a slow/intermittent internet connection

This is meant as a bug report, I've no idea if this is the right place... hopefully someone is listening!

The FB web-UI is very nice, when you have a decent connection. When you don't, it can be pretty confusing. For instance the timesheet functionality... the dialog appears but then is obviously doing an AJAX request to get the data. On a slow connection, it just sits there as an empty dialog. No 'loading' message, nothing. I see this other places too, it's confusing and just looks broken.

I have a particular issue with my connection... it's generally pretty fast but fairly often an individual HTTP request just disappears into the ether... for instance trying to load a web-page normally takes 2s but sometimes will just time-out... if I hit F5 it will reload very fast.

When this issue affects FB, it means a dialog can just stall, or thanks to the AJAXy UI other things can sit in some in-between state. FB isn't alone here, things like google maps do the same where some tiles just don't load.

I imagine on a slow connection the problems would also exist in other ways.
