The search index is stored in the FogBugz database (note: not as part of the database's native full-text index), but can be moved to disk in rare cases where it might help with corruption or performance issues.

Hi everyone,

We are experiencing a problem with our FogBugz 8 installation. We have tried to reset the search index (4 or 5 times in the past week), so this didn't solve the issue.

This is the errormessage:

3/10/2011 11:00 AM (GMT+01:00): Failed to update the search index; resetting the index may fix this (Admin -> Site -> Search -> Reset): -2147024809 - 'x-windows-949' is not a supported encoding name.

This time, the re-indexing of cases seemed to stop at ~13%, so we excluded the Case from search.

We have followed the instructions in blacklisting cases, but that is not really a solution, it just masks the actual error (and prevents that case from being found). Is there any way to solve the encoding problem?

The FogBugz Search Indexer is either being too agressive or too slow. It's bogging down my CPU, or perhaps it's not able to keep up with the rate of cases that I have incoming. Can I throttle it?

I keep getting this error popping up in the FogBugz admin notifications:

8/7/2009 9:49 PM (GMT-04:00): The Fog Creek Maintenance Service has reported
an error. (-2146232832) FogCreek.Search: The process cannot access the file

I reset the search index in Admin -> Site -> Search but the error comes back
