Every specific case event can be "jumped" to, using the link available on the date+time. But if the case is short, it's not clear which event it is, because the browser can't scroll it to the top. Is there some way to let it stand out?

Bug-monkey scripts probably don't qualify as full plug-ins on their own right and probably don't belong in the plug-in gallery, but it would be nice to have a centralized repository of BugMonkey scripts/css where people can share them

Since they are essentially just text blocks, I though I'd open a Question on here where people could post their scripts and/or vote on the best ones.

Michael: If you had other ideas for another place to do this, please let me know and I'll delete this post.

What does case status mean and how does a case move through the various statuses?

I'd really like an easier way to diff between any two revisions in the wiki, so that if we have something like:

List item

Current API

V 2.01

typo fix

V 2.0

more formatting

formatting

V 1.0

etc.

We can quickly select important versions to diff between.

(As pointed out below, this is possible using "What Changed". So, the request is a simpler UI to select which two versions directly from the Info page)

http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/7870/feature-request-add-resolved-to-open-v-closed-chart-breakdown-e-g-open-v-rFeature Request: Add "Resolved" to "Open v Closed" chart breakdown (e.g. Open v Resolved v Closed)Hugo Rodger-Brown2011-04-14T08:53:20Z2012-02-07T20:22:00Z

Tracking the progress in status of cases over the course of an iteration is really valuable to us, but at the moment we have two relevant chart breakdowns ("Open vs. Closed" or "Status"), neither of which gives us what we really want.

The problem with "Open vs. Closed" is that cases are only marked as closed once they'd been QA'd, which tends to happen in a block at the end of an iteration - whereas as the developers are marking cases as "Resolved" continuously throughout development. Showing Open vs. Resolved would give us a much more representative measure of development progress.

The Status breakdown is too detailed as it separates out all statuses within all cases categories - which is confusing.

http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/9114/why-cant-i-refine-a-search-the-way-i-can-a-filterWhy can't I refine a search the way I can a filter?Slava2011-09-04T18:00:22Z2012-02-07T20:22:00Z

When I use filter to select some cases in my FogBugz (for example cases that active and assigned to me) I get ordered list of all cases that matches the filter. I also can easily change the filter (e.g. instead of all cases assigned to me, select all cases assigned to John Smith)

But if I want do the same via search, I can't refine the results (even if my selection was a filter - see example)

status:"active" assignedto:"Slava [ ]" type:"cases" orderby:"Priority"

Result:

As you can see in the second example I can't refine the filter, but I expect that the result should be the same. (because I use the meta-language as status, assignedto, etc...)
Why I can translate the search string to filter representation?

Hey, we're brand new to FogBugz and we aren't quite ready to use everything the system has to offer. To help get the team comfortable with the tool, I'm looking to hide some menu items to keep them focused on the portions of the system we are using. Specifically, I'm looking to hide the "discuss" menu item. We're on FB on Demand, so I think we'll need to use BugMonkey.

Anyone know of the script we should use? Thanks!

We're evaluating FogBugz On Demand, and like the idea of the mailbox feature where cases are created or updated automatically. However, this seems to work a little too well. If an email is sent which includes the text "Case 10" (for example), it is automatically added into Case 10, and case 10 is reopened if it was previously closed.

Doesn't this mean that anyone with knowledge of the appropriate email address can reopen any Fogbugz issue?

Also, I can't see any way to remove an unwanted (but automatically assigned) email from a case once it's there. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,

Your product is great, I've been using it for about 4 years now. My problem is what happens when a Milestone is complete? Engineering generates a release... we stick it in a folder, and tell our service department it is available, then they put it into BETA or maybe it goes to Production (we ship servers with our stuff installed on it). Or maybe in BETA it has issues and needs to be pulled back... my point here is wouldn't it be great if Fogbugz provided a way to track the state of a milestone AFTER all the work is done?
thank you

ps if you can recommend some software to do this, that would be great. I tried trello... it's close but with no dates it's a little bit abstract and I would rather it 'known' about the milestone(s) already.

http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/8490/feature-request-ability-to-set-a-completion-date-on-a-milestone-which-depends-onFeature Request: Ability to set a completion date on a milestone which depends on another that has no dateadambox2011-06-17T15:43:34Z2012-02-06T20:58:09Z

When I setup these milestones:

Prep Work (no date)

Coding (no date, depends on Prep Work)

Testing and Release (no date, depends on Coding)

and I then try to set a completion date for Testing and Release, FogBugz won't let me, complaining that it starts before a milestone which it depends upon.

What's going on?? Answer: FogBugz always assumes that milestones with dates come before ones with no dates.

Feature Request

If there are dependencies involved, as in my case, EBS should be smart about it and see that the one with a date must come after those without dates, and allow me to set it that way.

We've recently moved to running Fogbugz over https which work amazingly easily.

One annoying quirk though is that the screen capture plugin does not follow the redirect from the old http:// to the new https:// address. As a result it throws a hundred and one javascript errors as it tries to load the Fogbugz homepage in the little pop up window.

Simple fix (once I'd clicked through the 50+ error pop ups, damn you IE) is to right click on the screen capture icon in your quick launch bar, select Options and change the url it posts to to use https://

I do this several times a week: I craft a nice HTML post with certain comments being links to supporting documentation and the email is plain text. The receivers see the email and immediately have questions: Is that assertion really true?

This may already exist, but after extensive searches and reading, I haven't found anything.

I would like to be able to add a link in a FogBugz case to a file in a Kiln repository, much like you can link a wiki article using
W###
.

We have client facing documentation (requirements docs, diagrams, design docs, etc.). These are all created in Microsoft Word and Visio.

Since it is relatively difficult to export cases that belong to a project into a client presentable document, it would be very helpful to be able to place all of the client facing project documents in a Kiln
repository
and then add a link to the case from which it was created. This way we can continue to keep our project documents under version control and intact to share with clients, and link them to the actual work that is done and tracked in FogBugz.

If this is possible, we could also store testing files and such in Kiln and link them to the testing cases in FogBugz. I would much prefer to keep these types of files under version control anyway, and not add them as
attachments
to a FogBugz case.

Is there an existing feature that will do this, or is this a new feature?

Thanks!

http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/9770/feature-request-better-flagging-for-cases-invisible-to-the-assigneeFeature Request: Better flagging for cases invisible to the assigneesam jones2012-01-09T04:01:09Z2012-02-06T15:49:41Z

Issue: frequently, we (by accident) assign a case to a user who cannot see the case. This happens because of the way FB security works. (We have two projects: An "internal" project that only our on site team sees, and an "external" project, that internal and external subcontractors see. Sometimes we assign a case to a subcontractor but accidentally have it in the "internal" project.)

This problem is LARGE because sometimes a case will sit for weeks, invisible to the assignee, and we get mad at the assignee for not doing it (and we miss deadlines that FB is supposed to help us meet).

FB does throw a warning when a case is assigned to a user who has no rights to see the case, but the warning is small and unobtrusive.

This feature request is for two things:

1) When making this mistake, the warning should have a RED STOP SIGN, or YELLOW TRIANGLE ! that is louder than the current notice (just adding such a graphic would help)

2) In the grid, such a case should be called out (such as with a yellow triangle) so it is easy to spot

Hi,

I can reproduce this issue every time. (We're using FogBugz onDemand).

Create a case (Let's call it case A).

Create a second case, making it a subcase of the first (Let's call it case B)

Edit case A or case B, it really doesn't matter which one you choose.

If editing case A, remove case B as the subcase, and put it's ID in the Parent Case field. If editing case B, remove case A as the parent and put it's ID in the Subcases field.

Click OK.

Expected Result:
The parent/subcase relationship has been swapped.

Actual Result:
There is no parent/subcase relationship at all; the changed value is not kept. In the event notation I see "Removed subcase [ID here]". Or "Removed parent [ID here]". I then have to edit the case again and re-enter the value that was lost, click OK in order to finally see the expected revised relationship as "Parent changed from (None) to Case [ID here]" in the event notation.

Please let me know if there's a more appropriate way to file issues (versus feature requests since the "Submit Feature Requests" button didn't seem the right way to go about reporting this issue).

Thanks,
~Angela

Is there a publicly available development Roadmap for Fogbugz?

We've been using Fogbugz since June 2005. It's a great tool and we've seen a regular stream of improvements. I might be wrong but I get the sense that StackExchange has become the company's priority. Jira is now attractively priced for a small team - cheaper than a 10 user maintenance agreement for Fogbugz and we could give up hosting saving more $.

So now for the first time I'm pondering a move, especially absent a Roadmap for anticipated feature enhancements (especially Grid View edit - http://fogbugz.stackexchange.com/questions/1368/feature-request-allow-editing-in-grid-view)

I am setting up BugzScout to report unexpected issues with our software. I've been able to get it configured to do everything we need. The only issue I've run into is that when I pass in HTML formatted information for the extra info field, it doesn't display in HTML in the ticket.

Is there some way this can be achieved? If not is this something that can be added? It would make it so much easier to read/display with a stack trace be formatted with HTML.

In my work place I need to log in 8 hours a day to whatever tasks I'm working on. We actually use Redmine officially but I use Fogbugz and then port the information across.

When I'm working on a well defined, specific bug or feature, that's easy and I can be "Working on" that item in Fogbugz.

However I have found myself creating tasks like "General Project Stuff" with an estimate of 1000 hours just as the default thing to fallback on when I'm not working on anything that specific. Maybe I'm helping a colleague with some problem, or in an unplanned meeting, or writing some thoughts down on some topic.

Is this a good idea or not? It seems too much work to create tiny little tasks for every little thing I'm working on, but I worry that I'm abusing the system somehow.

How does everyone else deal with this kind of 'miscellaneous' time?
